Red Sea Scuba Diving Trip 2013
How To Get To The Red Sea
With regard to the Red Sea Scuba Diving Trip 2013, I finally made it out to Egypt to SCUBA dive the Red Sea. The route we took was Egypt Air from New York to Cairo which was ten hours then a one hour flight from Cairo to Hurghada where we embarked on the Blue-O-Two liveaboard boat. It was a check-off on my bucket-list of diving.
Checkoff On Bucket List
I always wanted to SCUBA dive this body of water the famous Jacques Cousteau explored on his famous research vessel called the Calypso. We dove the famous wrecks and reefs namely the SS Thistlegorm. I finally did it. I want to give credit to my dive buddy John Kolcharno for his fine underwater photography. All the underwater pictures were taken by him. Thanks John! It was great diving with you buddy and a little different from our dives at Dutch Springs where we met and dove MANY times.
Wrecks We Visited
Some of the wrecks we dove were:Abu Nuhas Wreck, Dunraven, Thistlegorm, El Miniya, Giannis D and the Barge. We did four dives a day. The food was great on the boat and the service was top-notch. The water was a constant 73 degrees F.
The Boat
The liveaboard boat we dove on was Blue-O-Two. It was first class service and the meals were delicious. They even provided hot chocolate after coming up from the night dive. We were given terry cloth bath robes toe walk around the boat. After we disembarked off the Blue-O-Two boat we were able to experience the local flavor of Egypt at night in Hurghada and had some authentic Egyptian food. The Red Sea Scuba Diving Trip 2013 was a memory that I will never forget. Thumbs up all the way!
